Renting apartments and bankruptcy?

My fiancee and I are trying to rent an apartment in San Diego County in Escondido. My FICO is 630 and his is 700. He had his bankruptcy discharged about 6 years ago. We satisfy the income requirements and have steady jobs. We have no evictions and good renters' history (he was living in a fairly large complex about 3 years ago) Would the bankruptcy matter since it's been so long ago? (even though it's still on his credit report) What is the likelihood of us getting the apartment?
